A jihadist group carried out a new terrorist attack in Togo  Thursday, 16th June. The attack was recorded between Gnoaga and Gouloungoussi in the far north of the country.

This new attack took place in the horn in the north of the country along the border shared by Togo, Ghana, and Burkina Faso.

According to information, no damage is reported on the side of Togo after the attack.

This new jihadist incursion is recorded while the murderous one of May 11 is still vivid in the memories. The Kpekpakandi attack left 8 dead and 13 injured in the ranks of the Togolese armed forces (FAT) at the time.

This is the third time that Togo has been targeted by terrorists. On the night of November 9th to 10th, 2021, a first attack attempt was vigorously repelled by the soldiers at Sanloaga.

The Togolese government also set up a state of security emergency on Monday in the savannah region. A draft decree was examined and adopted Monday in the Council of Ministers.

The decree is issued by the government with the aim of creating an environment and conditions conducive to the administrative and operational measures necessary for the proper conduct of military operations, and the maintenance of order, and security in this region.

This decision, which covers the savannah region, should be implemented in a spirit of frank collaboration and good understanding with the populations. It will also be able to act even more effectively in the region.
