I Have Forgiven Suarez Because I Would Have Done The Same Thing – Asamoah Gyan

The Former Captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, Asamoah Gyan has spoken about the 2010 World Cup incident between him and Suarez.

Ghana met with Uruguay in the 2010 FIFA World Cup and Suarez from the opposition team blocked a goal Ghana was about to score with his hands.

Although he was given a red card and Ghana was awarded a penalty, unfortunately Asamoah Gyan missed the penalty and Uruguay won after penalty shootout.

Speaking in an interview, Asamoah Gyan has revealed how much he wanted to pay back Suarez for what he did and even nearly hit him when they met for a match in their respective foreign clubs while they were shaking hands.

According to him, anytime he remembers the things that was said to him because of that incident,the more he wanted to revenge.

The former captain said he later thought about it thoroughly and realized Suarez did that to save his country and putting himself in Suarez’s shoes at that moment, he would have done the same thing if he was in that position.

So now he says there’s no point of him revenging and he has wholeheartedly forgiven Suarez for what happened a more than a decade now.
