McBrown addressed the congregation in a video that the Instagram account @sweet maame adwoa published, outlining her decision to adopt Adepa.

She said she had asked her uncle to get in touch with the girl’s mother and ask her to come get some of her daughter Baby Maxin’s old clothes. The tiny child, who was just over a year old, had lost her mother, she was told. She was left wondering after the information hit her so hard.

McBrown claimed that she was moved to act after giving the young girl’s predicament some thought.

She talked it over with her husband after becoming persuaded, and he backed her up in her efforts to complete the adoption. McBrown continued by saying that she had initially preferred Adepa to remain with her father so she could take care of her in terms of food and other necessities. But, she continued to hear the same voice telling her to take the girl into her home. She said that Adepa’s father could always come for her whenever he wished and that she would love the little girl like her own daughter.
