Ghanaian Musician Fameye, has revealed that while he was working as a teacher, he received a salary of GH150.
During an Interview on Accra FM, the rapper said that he had held a teaching position at Mempeasem, a school in East Legon close to Trinity.
Fameye claims that he took pleasure in working with children and frequently sang jamma songs for them. He also said that the students called him “Teacher Peter” because of their positive interactions with him.
“I have taught before at Mempeasem, located in East Legon around Trinity. With kids, you don’t need to do much, and I used to sing jamma for the children too much. I took the kids to the streets too much,” he shared.
Fameye spoke fondly of his time spent instructing young people and the pleasure he had from it, but he also acknowledged that the headmistress of the school occasionally found his methods perplexing.
“Imagine teaching these East Legon children the songs I used to teach them. The headmistress used to ask me what I was doing. The children called me, ‘Teacher Peter.’ They used to pay me ¢150,” Fameye said.
