As part of the work plan of the Northern Regional Secretariat of the National Youth Authority, a sensitization program was organized under the project dubbed “Let’s talk RH and on valentines day but not have sex”.
A project targeted at erasing the misconceptions about valentine’s Day among Senior High School and young people in Northern Region. The motion that ‘valentine’s Day is for lovemaking (Sex)’ is highly popular among young people with its consequence, NYA finds it a necessity in addressing these misconceptions by educating and sensitizing on the need for prevention, Protection, and abstaining from sex.
In the course of the program, the Regional Director of the National Youth Authority(NYA) Mr. Mununi Alhassan admonished the students to focus on their dreams and education and clear their minds from sex and immorally, especially on valentines Day.
“In the Northern Region, we are not fortunate to be blessed with Natural Regional, our only precious Natural Resource is education. So don’t do anything that will threaten our “Natural Resources”(Education)”. He added.
A team of Health professionals was sent to some schools in the Region to enlighten the student on their reproductive health.
The Winner of the 2022 edition of Ghana Most Beautiful Teiya Dramani was invited to join the team to enlighten and inspire the students.
In all, Eight(8) schools in the Region benefited from the project. With about Four Thousand students in participation.
